Every child comes to us with an individual way of experiencing, processing, and engaging with the world. As Montessorians, our work begins with observation: seeing the child before us, recognizing individual needs and strengths, and preparing environments that support development.
But what does it mean to follow the child when a child's pathway for learning looks different from what we expect?
Join the Montessori Network of New Mexico for a full day exploring neurodivergence, learning differences, and the many pathways through which children learn and develop.
Together, we will consider how a deeper understanding of neurodivergence can strengthen our Montessori practice while continuing to honor the individuality, dignity, and potential of every child.
About Our Speaker
Dr. Gulzar Babool, Ed.D., CALT is a lifelong Montessorian with more than 22 years of experience as a Montessori parent, educator, and leader. She is a Certified Academic Language Therapist and serves as Senior Director of Shelton Outreach and Training and Director of Shelton Montessori Training in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Babool's work bridges Montessori education and support for students with learning differences. She provides professional development for public and private Montessori schools, supports authentic Montessori program implementation, works in Montessori teacher education, and regularly presents nationally on supporting learning-different students and promoting inclusive Montessori practices.
What You'll Experience
Our morning will center around a presentation with Dr. Babool exploring neurodivergence through the lens of Montessori education.
Following lunch, we will shift from presentation to conversation. An afternoon panel and collaborative group brainstorming will give participants an opportunity to ask questions, exchange perspectives, and explore how these ideas can be applied within our classrooms, schools, and homes.
The day includes:
• Morning presentation with Dr. Gulzar Babool
• Afternoon panel discussion
• Collaborative group brainstorming
• Opportunities for conversation and connection with Montessorians from across New Mexico
• Morning and afternoon breaks
• Light breakfast options and lunch
Who Should Attend?
Everyone in our Montessori community is welcome.
This conference is designed for Montessori guides, assistants, school leaders and administrators, Montessori professionals, parents and caregivers, and others interested in better understanding and supporting neurodivergent learners within Montessori environments.
You do not need to be a Montessori educator to participate. We especially welcome families who would like to learn alongside the educators and school leaders who support their children.
